Boat Types

We offer a range of boat types to fit every boating lifestyle

Pontoon Boats

Pontoon Boats

Often called "party barges," pontoons feature a large, flat deck balanced on two or three hollow aluminum tubes (pontoons).

  • The Vibe: Ultimate relaxation and socialization.
  • Layout: They maximize "floor real estate," offering wrap-around couches, tables, and often integrated changing rooms or grills.
  • Best For: Large groups (10+ people), calm lakes, and casual swimming. Modern "tri-toons" (three tubes) have higher horsepower and can actually handle towing tubers or skiers quite well.

Runabout Boats

Runabout Boats

Small-to-medium powerboats (usually 16–25 feet) designed for short trips and versatility. The most common style is a Bowrider, where the front of the boat is open for extra seating.

  • The Vibe: The "sports car" of the water.
  • Layout: Traditional V-hull design that cuts through the water smoothly. They usually feature a cockpit area for the driver and a bench or loungers in the back.
  • Best For: Water sports (skiing, wakeboarding), cruising across the lake at higher speeds, and quick "runs" to a waterfront restaurant.

Wake/Surf Boats

Wake/Surf Boats

These are precision-engineered machines built for those who live for the perfect wave. While great for cruising, every design choice is focused on shaping and customizing the ultimate wake.

  • The Vibe: High-energy, tech-forward, and built for the "endless summer."
  • Layout: Features include rear-facing seating to watch the action, integrated ballast tanks for weight, and "surf gates" to shape the wave at the touch of a button.
  • Best For: Traditionally, inboards have been used for wake sports with the prop beneath the hull. Today, Forward Drive sterndrives and jet boats also provide safe, capable performance for surfing and wakeboarding.

Motor Types

How your boat's engine perfectly matches how you plan to play on the water.

Outboard

Outboard

Mounted entirely on the back of the boat, outboard motors offer a superior power-to-weight ratio and are incredibly easy to maintain or winterize. This design frees up valuable interior floor space for extra seating and storage while allowing the entire unit to tilt completely out of the water.

Sterndrive

Sterndrive / Forward Drive

This "hybrid" system places the engine inside the boat for a clean, open swim platform. While a traditional sterndrive is great for all-around cruising, the Forward Drive pulls the boat from the front of the unit, tucking the propellers safely under the hull for a better (and safer) wakesurfing experience.

Jet Drive

Jet Drive

By using an internal impeller to shoot a stream of water for thrust, jet drives eliminate the need for a traditional hanging propeller. This makes them the safest choice for swimmers and allows you to navigate shallower waters and tight spots with incredible responsiveness and speed.

Choose Your Direction

New vs. Pre-Owned Boats

New Boats

New Boats

Starting new just feels different.

You get to choose what matters, skip what doesn't, and end up with something that fits your life on the water from the beginning.

Why some people choose new:

  • The latest features and technology
  • Full factory warranty
  • Choose your layout, colors, and options
  • A clean start, no history, no unknowns

Value and Versatility

For a lot of people, pre-owned is just a smart place to start. It gives you the freedom to get on the water, learn what you like, and grow into it - and when it's from us, you can trust it's ready. If we wouldn't feel good owning it ourselves, we won't offer it.

Why some people choose pre-owned:

  • Time to figure out what you actually like
  • A chance to get on the water without overthinking every detail
  • See what fits before committing to something new

Financing Options

Boat Financing

What boat financing looks like

Boat financing often surprises people, in a good way.

  • Longer terms are common, helping keep monthly payments manageable
  • In many cases, financing a higher amount over a longer term can result in more favorable interest rates
  • Rates, terms, and down payments vary based on credit, loan amount, and lender programs
  • Every approval is tailored to the individual, no two situations are exactly the same
Down Payments

What Down Payments Look Like

Down payments can vary, but here's a general guideline:

  • Plan on around 10% down in most cases
  • Some approvals may allow for less, while others may require more
  • On higher-priced boats (typically over $100,000), lenders often require 15–20% down
  • Final terms depend on credit, loan amount, and lender requirements
Loan Terms

Loan terms

Boat financing offers flexible terms, depending on the loan amount and the boat:

  • Loans between $25,000–$50,000 typically offer up to 15-year terms
  • Loans over $50,000 may qualify for up to 20-year terms
  • These terms generally apply to new boats

USED BOATS

  • Terms may be similar, but rates can vary based on the age of the boat
  • Newer used boats often qualify for better rates and terms
  • In some cases, spending slightly more on a newer boat can result in a lower monthly payment
What Affects Rates

What affects rates

Boat loan rates can vary based on several factors, including:

  • Age of the boat - Newer boats often qualify for better rates than older models
  • Credit score – Stronger credit typically helps secure more favorable terms
  • Debt-to-income ratio – Lenders look at your current monthly obligations compared to your income
  • Down payment – A larger down payment can sometimes improve your rate and loan terms
  • Loan amount and term – The amount financed and length of the loan can affect the rate offered
  • Current economic conditions – Market interest rates and lender programs can change over time
  • Type of boat – In some cases, certain boat types or price points may finance differently

ADDITIONAL FLEXIBILITY

  • Most lenders offer no prepayment penalties
  • You can pay extra when it works for you and scale back when needed

Finance disclosure: This information is intended to provide a general overview of boat financing and may vary based on your individual circumstances. Final terms, rates, and down payment requirements are determined by the lender.

What happens once you say "yes"

We hope the buying process felt fun, because boating should be!

Once you've found the right boat, we'll collect a deposit to secure it. That gives you a little time to let it all sink in while we keep things moving on our end, whether that's financing through us or getting everything lined up on your side.

At that point, the boat comes off the market and is officially yours.

We'll schedule a specific day for you to come into the dealership to complete paperwork and warranty registrations. Then you'll spend time with Tom, our founder, for your full orientation.

With your permission, we'll take a photo of you in front of your new boat; and from there, it's memory making time. Welcome to Our Boating Family!

FAQs

Find answers to common questions about trading / selling your boat.

How do I know which type of boat is right for me?

down-arrow

The best boat depends on how you plan to spend your time on the water. Pontoons are great for relaxing and entertaining, runabouts are ideal for cruising and watersports, and wake boats are designed for wakeboarding and wakesurfing. Our team can help match your boating goals with the right boat.

Should I buy a new or pre-owned boat?

down-arrow

Both options offer advantages. New boats provide the latest technology, warranty coverage, and customization options, while pre-owned boats can offer excellent value and a great way to get started in boating. We can help you compare both based on your needs and budget.

What is included in the advertised boat price?

down-arrow

Most boats are listed as complete packages that include the boat, motor, and trailer. Administration fees, taxes, registration fees, and other applicable costs are typically separate. Our team will clearly explain all pricing before you make a purchase decision.

How much should I expect to put down on a boat?

down-arrow

Many buyers put down around 10%, although down payment requirements vary by lender, credit profile, loan amount, and the type of boat being financed. Higher-priced boats may require a larger down payment.

How long are boat loan terms?

down-arrow

Boat financing terms can range from several years to up to 15–20 years depending on the loan amount, boat type, and lender qualifications. Our finance specialists can help you explore available options.

Can I trade in my current boat?

down-arrow

Yes. We accept trade-ins and can provide an evaluation to determine your boat's current market value. Trading in your existing boat can help reduce the amount you finance on your next purchase.

What factors affect boat financing rates?

down-arrow

Financing rates are influenced by factors such as credit score, debt-to-income ratio, boat age, loan amount, loan term, down payment, and current market conditions.

What additional ownership costs should I budget for?

down-arrow

Beyond your boat purchase, you should plan for expenses such as insurance, registration, storage, maintenance, fuel, and accessories. Our team can help you understand the full cost of ownership before you buy.

How does the boat buying process work?

down-arrow

The process typically begins with finding the right boat, reviewing pricing and financing options, securing the boat with a deposit, completing paperwork, and scheduling delivery and orientation. Our team guides you through every step.

Is there any pressure to buy when I visit the dealership?

down-arrow

No. Colorado Boat Center focuses on helping customers make informed decisions through education and guidance rather than high-pressure sales tactics.

What happens after I purchase my boat?

down-arrow

After purchase, you'll complete paperwork and warranty registration, then participate in a detailed orientation covering operation, launching, docking, safety features, and maintenance basics so you feel confident on the water.

Do you provide boat delivery and orientation?

down-arrow

Yes. Every customer receives a hands-on delivery and orientation experience designed to help them understand their boat's systems, controls, and operating procedures before heading to the water.

What if I've never owned a boat before?

down-arrow

Many of our customers are first-time boat owners. We'll help you select the right boat, explain ownership costs, walk you through financing, and provide training and support to ensure a comfortable transition into boating.

Will I receive support after taking my boat home?

down-arrow

Absolutely. Our relationship doesn't end after delivery. Our sales, service, parts, and support teams are available to help with maintenance, questions, upgrades, and ongoing boating education.
